Id assume yes if you go B2B route
Find an AE for one of those companies and ask them what it’s like? That kind of personal message never turned me off; I just don’t like outreach that turns into selling when I’m not a DM. I wouldn’t cold ask that person’s OTE, but finding out about the company, day in the life, etc, can lead to uncovering some reality about the situation.
how much alt-protein would you have to sell to get ~$200k in commission/profit sharing?
I sell into this industry… I have less then stellar news to report: companies are shuttering a lot of US r&d in this area, the only way to hit that kind of target is to sell into S America where a lot of the big guys are investing in manufacturing plants. If you go broader like “ingredients” or distribution, your goal is absolutely achievable but not if you only sell into alt meat.
