Personalizing your LinkedIn connection requests: Yay or nay?

My acceptance rate is higher when I don't personalize the connection request but I have a few colleagues that believe a good note can improve your chances of getting accepted.


I personally think that notes on connection requests = sales.

On the other hand, if they're a lead and you have good intentions, would showing your intentions earlier speed up your conversion rate if you happen to find a prospect in a buying window?

I usually put something generic like this: "Hi [First Name], I wanted to add you to my professional network of [bullshit I sell] professionals."

My acceptance rate has been higher with that generic line.ย
