PIPd today

Well, as the title says. I got PIPd. The company wants me to close to about 60k by the end of the month when the avg sales cycle is 4-5 weeks and deal size is 15k at best.

I knew this was coming, so I already have a few interviews lined up and have been admitted to an MBA program I can afford overseas. It's rough out there, folks. But I'm not upset, I'm ready to move on to something new, get out of my industry for a bit and not wait so long to live my life.

Sorry to hear this, but seems like you were leaving soon anyway. What made you look at getting an MBA?

Sales has been such a crazy ride and to say I've enjoyed all of it would be a lie. It's taught me a lot, that's for sure. But mainly it's because I've been putting things off for far too long.
Sounds cliche, but I've been working all through the pandemic and my physical and mental health went to shit and kept telling myself "Just a few more quarters, just till I hit $ or just till I hit x". Had some friends pass away, had some health scares and then realized this isn't worth it in my current stage of life.
The MBA is just an avenue to see what else is out there. At the right price point, it just made sense I'm not spending 6+ figures for a degree. It's in the EU as well, so traveling, networking and just being open the opportunities that may arise. Who knows, maybe I'll end back in Sales somewhere in the EU(Hope not), but I just need to see what else is out there.

Keep that head up! I heard a story about someone getting the offer of a layoff or a 6-week PIP to source and close an enterprise deal while we have 6-9 month cycles. Crazy out there.

How long did you know this was coming?

When I got hired I went through their CRM and saw that they churned through about 40 or so reps in the span of two quarters, so I knew coming in that this is the churn and burn type org.
I did all I could do with this guy's crazy demands as a founder, but as a 1099 with no healthcare or benefits of any kind, I'm not going burn myself out for an org that's already been through so many reps. So I knew to temper my expectations and essentially play the survivor game lol

Good luck man, have fun with the MBA I enjoyed going back to get one. If itโ€™s over seas should be a good time.

Definitely sounds like you're being shown the door no matter what - as is often the case with a PIP.
Explore those other options and line up a new gig or that MBA.

Fortunately, sales teaches you about the fuck fuck games people play, so I'm not upset about it really. If anything, it's time to move on to something new and see what else is out there and if it doesn't pan out, maybe I'll go back to sales. But I won't know if I don't try.

Thank you. For a while, I was second-guessing myself thinking "well ,I'll lose out on SaaS experience and selling and x amount of money" Then I realized sales isn't going anywhere and I kept asking myself how long I'm going to keep putting things off.
I'm not getting any younger and while I'm still alive, I'd like to pursue the things I told myself I was going to do.
Whether they go according to plan or not, I'll need to at least try. Fwiw, sales has given me a pretty good foundation in business acumen and speaking to people in general and I'm sure it'll be an asset when job searching and networking overseas.
