Practice Practice Practice

What techniques are you using to get better at sales.

I have always been told that practice in the mirror works well but I can't stand doing it, it feels fake.

That said I am trying to get better every damn day so would love to hear from the killers out there what tactics you use to get reps in and get better.

Using gong is a great place to start. go back listen to your calls and see where you can get better, iterate and work with your manager on it

Practice your pitch whenever you can, in the shower, driving to work, etc. When in the office, we do drilling, so basically practice sales calls with each other by using our actual headsets and calling each other's extensions.

I always try and push myself to ask 1 more question than what feels comfortable, the more discovery you have the better the call will be, plus people love talking about themselves.

Also listen back to your calls and think of ways you can make it better or maybe missed a detail in a call that you can follow up on the next time.

Knowing what your selling really well also helps me because then you can focus on the prospect and their problem rather than feature selling.

Practice is the first step for sure, I do the mirror trick and it has helped me a lot, look yourself in the eye and judge yourself, if not it won’t work.

I write my own scripts and practice several versions of it so it becomes natural during the calls, once you know the topic, rebuttals and objections by heart and understand what your product does and how it helps the prospect, just have a normal conversation all the pressure will be gone.

I don’t read them during the calls, try to avoid sounding robotic, but they do help!

I do not see why you would do it in the mirror. Use peer colleagues or just do it in the car.

the mirror just allows you to do it whenever, collegues and peers arent always available

Always do whats best for you. Sometimes it can be hard but the best thing I ever did was jump ship- its almost sad to see my former colleagues still grinding away for peanuts at the old gig because they are "loyal" to their senior leadership.
