Ramp period variable payout

Hello people,

What is the average ramp period for the role of AE?

Generally, do we get the 100% variables paid in this ramp period (of course, irrespective of performance)?

it really depends like alsways. Either it is a quoata that ramps up to the standard hight. Or a certain period you are guaranteed your bonus. For exmaple when you are filling your pipe

Oh man, the answer to this is variable in and of itself.
It's different from company company - you need to check your comp plan.
If you're looking at starting somewhere new, this may be a lever you can pull when you're negotiating.

Very industry and company dependent, I’ve always negotiated this as a part of my offer if you can ahead of it.

This varies. You'll have to negotiate it and get it in writing in your comp plan.

The average time is 3 months. Almost every role I have held has had a 3 month ramp period. By month 4 I was on full quota. One role gave me 100% during that ramp period. Every other company was pretty much first month guaranteed and then your quota was 33% the second month and then increased 33% each month until 100%. That is just what I personally experienced but I would say that has to be the common ramp structure. At least in SaaS.

Really depends on the sale cycle and how your training works

For deeper sales cycles I've seen bonuses for pipe gen to make up for lack of quick closes.
But I'm unsure what you're asking here.

It depends, sometimes there are guarantees with KPIs attached. Other times there are a couple months or quarters where you just get paid your commission as if you were at full OTE. Each role is different.

all depends on the company, there's no average, some companies will just pay you out 20% of a deal size for x months while ramping, others have a knocked down quota in order to get x payout.

Every ramp I’ve had, they paid full OTE for 3 months and they paid out variable as well.

Enterprise sale here - I’ve had 6 months ramp with with guaranteed bonus paid out at the 3 month and 6 month mark. Selling a product with around a 10 month sales cycle

FEELINGS- Your commission is annual (ARR) but the customer paid monthly (MRR) and if there is a churn in the next few months, the company will deduct by increasing your quota and taking the equivalent amount $$ from your quota in the next month.
