Yup, now the selling gets a lot more interesting, by that I mean extremely stressful

Yes, I feel we are in one (despite what the politicians want us to believe)
It certainly can affect you, depending on what industry you sell to. This is why its so important to 5x-10x your funnel, if possible.

The growth we saw in some industries in 2020 and 2021 had to slow down eventually. I think we’re seeing a correction coupled with poor sentiment.

Your pipeline is your lifeline. Keep generating opportunities for yourself and you’ll be okay.

This is what I believe as well. It has been called a bubble bursting in the past. Market correction seems to be accurate.

depends on what you sell honestly.

For my company at least, management has already reduced our earnings forecast and stated publicly that deal size is reducing, sales cycles are increasing and ramp time for new reps has almost doubled.

No quota adjustment of course, also no adjustments to ramp, and they’ve even put multiple reps on PIP while either on ramp or just after.

I am seeing belt tightening, so anything that can have a net decrease in cost ( decrease overhead, reduce fraud, etc.) by implementation would be a huge win. I’ve been sticking with that.

There's not one answer for this. If you work for a company that outsources or provides a way to relieve the workload of employees, then you may find that you do better in a recession. If you sell an expensive nice-to-have where you are having to replace an incumbent, then it certainly can get rocky for you.

Definitely trending that way, still in more of a market correction than full on recession at the moment imo

We just spoke about it today in our company wide meeting. It’s having an effect for sure at least in the industry we are in

It is important to be in a Sales job where the product/service you are offering is somewhat recession proof (Food industry, medical industry, etc.)and there is a true need for the service you are offering. Otherwise, buckle up because it will be a bumpy ride!!

Recessions aren't good for anyone, but sales will likely be more durable than many other professions. Industry/sector plays a big part too, as some are more "recession proof" than others.

The recession announcements always come about 6-9 months after we’ve entered one - the lag in the dialogue is how they game us plebeians
