Resume Crafting for Remote Positions

Hello,

I have been in sales for a little over a year now as a Territory Account Manager for a telecommunications business. I am wanting to find a remote role, preferably in a SaaS or other IT related field. I am having a hard time standing out from other candidates and I think it could be due to my resume being lackluster. What are some skills you like to highlight or look for when hiring/applying to new positions?

Resume should showcase rank, quota %, and typical deal cycle

Highly recommend copy/paste parts job description and put them in your resume, this makes it easy for the recruiter to see you are qualified

The issue is that the company is rather small, with only two sales people. Our lead times have made deals take 6+ months to close.

But you just need to talk about your accomplishments, not in comparison to the other rep. That said, if you can spin up the fact it was a small team and you were responsible for 50% of the revenue and you exceeded your target (for example) that can be compelling. What you are looking for are any data points that showcase your capabilities positively and will catch the attention of a hiring manager.

I don't think there's much you can do to tailor your resume to remote roles - that's all in your targeting.

You need to be more specific in your accomplishments and attainment to stand out.
