Ride Share Client F'd Me: Requested New AE

My company is spineless and always buckles to procurement. Some dipshit of a procurement manager negotiated for 5 months on a specific price to get a deal done. After finally caving (managements decision). He decided at the last minute to give the business (roughly $80K in commission to me after tax) to the competitor. 3 months later, he came back and asked for us to retroactively price the rest of his services at the newly negotiated price which he f*cked us on.

I kindly told him, "Once you're ready to execute the deal from Q4, we would be happy to take a look at your previous contracts but you negotiated a deal to which you never honored- always happy to hop on a call to discuss if you need but we can't retroactively adjust previously signed contracts based off a negotiation you went through and never even executed on."

...So he wrote my SVP demanding a new rep stating I'm unreliable and don't know how to work with them. That little f*cker got his way. I lost the account even though the company is giving him what he wanted originally.

Guess who's going to go on short term disability...any other suggestions on how to ๐Ÿ–•๐Ÿผ my company on the way out?

The messaging you used is EXACTLY what my managers encourage me to do to hold the line with problem customers. Imagine how much of a PIA they're going to be from now on?

Being afraid to be firm with a customer only teaches that customer to continue to be obnoxious and demanding.

I'm sorry your company and management didn't back you up. Spineless doesn't begin to describe it.

Maybe not the best revenge...but it would be tempting to get one of those anatomical spines and send it to your execs on the way out as "something they clearly can use".

Nuclear revenge would be to use their email and name to blind apply to similar positions at competing companies, then use their boss's email as the reply.

Thanks for the support and ideas. I think using his cell phone number for multiple spam sites (maybe throw in some extended car warranty sites in there), along with a big fat chocolate D sent over the holidays should suffice. Great teamwork here guys- appreciate the collab.

Sorry to hear that - I would do the same thing but I also loop my managers in such cases. You shouldnโ€™t be losing your account though where you put so much of effort. So sad to know that your company didnโ€™t support you.

Wow, what a dirty bastard. There's plenty of revenge ideas out there, but go out on a high note if you can. And yes, it is so much easier said than done.

How are you going to claim short term disability?

I'd definitely exit, but no need to set fire to the place on the way out. Just because those in senior management and procurement are spineless douchebags doesn't mean you should should try and one-up them.

Take as many clients with you as you can if you don't have a non-compete or can get around the non-compete.

I was hired at a really good start up about 4 months ago for a SDR role that I was told I wouldnโ€™t be in for very long. Theyโ€™re gonna go public in the next year, but Zoom Info reached out to me about an Account exec position. Now Iโ€™m wondering if I should take the guaranteed route to AE or let my shares vest and get to AE at the place that took me. Usually I wouldnโ€™t consider jumping so quickly, but AE is AE.
