Why would a company want someone else closing business for them?

Are they closing business or setting up opportunities as outsourced S/BDRs?

Scalability. Really hard to build a good, smoothly running sales team.
But yeah. Admit freely that it is a brain โ€žfartโ€œ.

Outsourced appointment setting is already prevalent and one of the downsides is lack of control and direct contact of your resources from a training and accountability perspective.

Having outsourced AEs would further complicate this effort. It would be very difficult to do well, and would likely only work for transactional sales cycles.

Agreed. Thank you. That is a VERY fair point that I totally agree with.

I mean feel free to discuss it, but Iโ€™d never subscribe to something like that. Maybe there are founders that would want to at the infancy stage, but thatโ€™s what fractional VPs are for.

Nope. All good. I are with you.
Apparently not all of my ideas are great. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

This is actually popular in my industry, many manufacturers hire private reps to be their sole source provider and representation for a specific region. What my company does, we represent over 50 lines in our region, and for the most part we are the dedicated rep. Ie. no other reps have access to that line/product/brand in this region.

yes, there are plenty of outsourced sales groups out there. They'll engage for 3-12 months (or whatever) to get something launched ad then they move on.

I know there are SDR/BDR services out there, but I'm not aware of any full service sales orgs that do closing on your behalf. I think there might be some interesting legal implications there when it comes to contracts and such.

Nope, as that's really uncommon to offer the same sales service to another sales team at a different company to handle tasks they were assigned to do already, which was the reason why they were hired in the first place!

I canโ€™t see this as effective in a sales cycle longer than right now. But this exists all over the place with commoditized products. Broadcast Radio and TV stations use national rep firms to sell their rating points in a given market. It bleeds into their digital marketing products also.

At the front of the funnel, this could work. But the whole Chabang seems just uncontrollable and a headache for the company.

Agreed. Setting the correct KPIs would be really hard.

Nope. Never considered it.

Train your team accordingly. Adjust when needed. Don't shy from tough conversations.

Though I understand the value, it just feels off to have an outside group come in and close business for you.

How can you truly master your product without closing it internally?

Sort of....That seems like Channel sales. Big IT resellers like SHI seem to follow that model to a degree.

But, there are likely tech consultants who act as professional buyers. IDK how the reverse of that would work well

The company Aspire is a good example of this model

This is offered by outsourced BDRs and @sahilhas posted a lot that he believes the future of sales people will be network driven with a trusted advisor selling multiple solutions if Iโ€™m not mistaken. I guess itโ€™s a matter of time before it gains more steam and companies start trying it out
