Selling software to Software Salespeople?

Just a question for those that sell software to software salespeople. What's it like?

Anyone with experience selling to both salespeople and non salespeople have any thoughts? Or just thoughts in general even if you haven't sold to both?

Just curious what it's like to sell to your own kind. Any benefits or drawbacks.

Right, you still need to be responsive, find the pain point, and execute. I have actually found it easier to deal with other sales individuals, they are at least sympathetic to your attempts to connect.

Do you have something they need? If so, you have a chance. Most sales/former sales people enjoy a good conversation.

I have done both sold to sales people not always at Saas companies tho. I've also done b2c sales, so most of them were not in sales. I think selling to sales people is easier by a lot. There's a saying "Great sales people loved being sold to". It's only if the person selling is good though, but because they're also in sales, they know the challenges and are probably curious to see how you say things and where'd you learn certain stuff. After I closed deals, I've gotten text messages from them saying what was the opener you used? How'd you learn your tonality? Things like that, so sales people are definitely easier to sell to, they're also a lot easier to get on the phone.

selling to sales people is awesome and hard at the same time. They understand they need to go through the proces, they also know the tricks you're using

I sell SaaS and I get SaaS sellers reaching out to me all The time. Most of their pitches are ๐Ÿ’ฉ

They donโ€™t know me, my company, or my needs. So I ignore them. Admittedly I have a pretty high bar for my fellow sales people to cross.

I sell to sales and marketing. In general, I prefer selling to salespeople. They help you run a more efficient sales process. All salespeople know that not everyone is going to buy, but you can at least not waste your rep's time. Most salespeople I sell to are communicative, they let me know where they are in their buying process, they give clear feedback if they're not going to move forward.

Now, this is most people. There are still some selfish jerks where I hope they get bad sales karma for the way they've treated me in their buying process

Find a common ground, something you both are interested in. People have a tendency of letting their guard down to individuals who they believe to be trustworthy and have something in common with. Good hunting.

Salespeople will know the cycle and if they want it they'll move quickly.

Be pleasant and considerate of the other sales reps' time. Few things get on my rag as much as a sales person trying to sell me something and not listening to me when I tell them to forget the script. Listen well, go with the flow and forget the script (if you were given one by a crappy team leader or manager).
