Hey There!
Here's my problem: My resume would appear that I'm a job hopper, but there's a lot more to it. I have had exceptionally bad luck in the Tech space. I need some help on what to do!
At one company, I had to quit because I was sexually harassed by multiple men at the organization. It was a terrible experience that was incredibly traumatizing.
In another organization, leaders were caught teaching reps how to steal from the company. Leaders were let go as were reps. That was incredibly stressful. It was obvious that OTE was WAY OFF because $160K reps were not showing up as a $160K reps if you know what I mean. Long short, position was eliminated. I was kept, BUT more drama ensued. They made massive cuts to comp, it was a lot more responsibility and a lot less pay. It didn't make sense for me to stick around after having 3 different managers, and 3 different job titles in less than 1 year and a 6.5% cut in my comp. My manager loved me, and I could go back to the org, but all of my friends have told me the org is in a total disaster. Hence, more work less money.
I worked at ANOTHER organization where leadership was stealing, there was a dissolution in ownership, and it was a complete sinking ship.
At another org I got into a pretty bad car accident in outside sales, someone ran into the back of my car and totaled it. I had to do 2 years of physical therapy.
I've only had 1 role where I left because I just didn't like the environment. We were paid $17.50 but 50% comp. I had a new manager, who I never had the opportunity to interview with. Had I met her, I likely would have turned down the position. I was clear that I wanted a tenured manager, and I do feel like I got the Okey doke, but I'll take the hit for this one.
Listen, I am EXHAUSTED!!
Is this just a sign that I shouldn't be in sales? Seriously, I've had to take time off from these situations it's a lot to deal with. How can I break into my next role without having to take an incredibly entry-level position. I mean it when I say, I blow out my number, but I'm never there for long because of the shit show that ensues. Is this just new-age workplace drama? Is this a major shift in corporate? I used to work in another industry and there were never these types of issues...
Lastly, the companies on my resume are BIG NAMES, which is why I can't say anything. I'd love my issues to revolve around, I don't really like JIM, but it's fine. We can make it work. OR, we all have to pick up a little extra slack around here. However, I'm not interested in corporate trauma bonds. I'm starting to think that WeWork Culture was really just Tech culture (pre-covid).
Please help, I need to get a new gig ASAP but my mental health needed time from all of the work chaos. Not to mention, my home life basically has to be perfect because heaven forbid there's any drama and both aspects of my life become total chaos.
