Should I leave my role for another offer

Been an inbound rep for a mid market saas company for about a year (series A, hypergrowth) top 10% performer on the team but have not been promoted (difficult promotion path) - current role will put me at approx 55k for the year

Finally engaged with a recruiter for a different company role in bizdev (outbound) with a 85k OTE (65k base) - mid market saas Series B

sounds like a no brainer to jump ship but my hesitation is:
1) The company I'm interviewing with has a more technical product that seems like a hard sale - not confident in the trajectory of the company/product
2) It's my first interview for a different role as an SDR and I'm not sure if I should keep searching to nail something better

Need guidance from some Saas OG's

No marketing, mayo isn't an MQL
What's your current promotion path? Is the next step outbound SDR?

Worth interviewing around and seeing what else is out there, especially if you're happy for the moment in your current gig.

Current promotion path is lengthy and due to gates in the current role that reset with inconsistencies in performance, I’d say I’m a year away from even being outbound in my current role. So knowing that this other company is 65k base (current base is around 40k) and it’s outbound - it’s taking a lot to not just go for it, but know it could be worth it to hold out for something else.

I would recommend doing an additional interview or two. The market is hot, no need to jump immediately unless you got an offer that blows you away.

Appreciate the insight. That’s what I’m leaning towards but I don’t wanna have Fomo on a company I decline or even the company I’m already with (everybody here is drinking that startup Koolaid)

I wouldn’t worry about the FOMO too much. I have a good work friend and we always talk about the next late stage start up we want to join after our current RSUs vest. Been doing this with him for about a year cuz our current job is pretty miserable minus the RSUs. Every couple months one of our targets IPOs and we get a little SADNESS. And then lo and behold a new target company gets us excited again within a week.

Shameless plug but I just wrote like 1000 words on this subject last week, hope this helps:

Wow, both those roles suck. Keep looking. If you're kicking ass you can find better comp plans then that.

Damn really? I always had the impression that SDR’s OTE being 65-85k was industry standard for mid market Saas

Are you an SDR or AE at the current company ?

Inbound SDR - new role is outbound SDR (closer to AE from my understanding)

Outbound SDR would still to prospecting and qualification (as per my understanding). Couple of things to look at - which segment of customers you will cater too, what's the sales cycle. Not sure if you will be comfortable 100% OB, why don't you wait and see if some other opportunities come your way. Meanwhile, try to also understand more about this role.

if the promotion path is clouded and you want to become an AE then I would highly recommend leaving and looking at more than 1 company. SAAS business is desperate for SDRs and AEs right now and you can find a new role that would be better in 2-3 weeks. Also, be careful how you frame the reason for wanting to leave. You want to show that you're committed but your next company may be concerned to hear that you want to leave because you aren't an AE yet where they may require a year of being a BDR to get promoted to AE. Something along the lines of "none of the current BDRs that have been here longer than me have any path to being an AE and that is what I want." best of luck in your endeavors.

Inbound and outbound are two different worlds, BUT you are almost doubling your compensation with this move - I'd say no brainer.
