Should I Speak with the new CEO?

Happy Friday you lovely sales savages, I would appreciate y'all's insight!

We recently got a new CEO. He's a straight shooter, 4x CRO with his main focus being growth.

We mostly focus on enterprise healthcare prospects. I've been here for almost 18 months, and now I'm the sole BDR in the  company. There used to be four of us, and in my time here, I haven't seen anyone get an SQO from outbound. Not 1.

I want to invite our new CEO to do some cold calls with me.

Is this a good idea?

Company size is about 150 people.

Meeting CEO is good. Asking them to make cold calls isn't.

They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
Just say “ hi I’m X and am an SDR with the company. I’d love to sit down with you sometime and I could share what I’ve seen here”. He’ll say sure and that’ll be the end of it.
He’s not you’re friend - he’s your boss. You were hired to make cold calls, he wasn’t.

In our company the CEO loves to share success stories... he loves talking about the successes to the employees, prospects and the board and everyone he meets... he takes every chance he can to share success stories to everyone...

Really watch out how you want to invite him to your cold calling sessions... maybe better to share with him the success from your cold calls...

Cold calling can be very very cold...

My experience, when you talk to the CEO or Vice President or someone 2-3 levels above you or your boss... and you mention some challenges that you are facing in your job... always be prepared to answer: what we (the company / really meaning you) should do to fix it? Or what is needed of yourself to overcome the obstacles.

100%. Too many newer people don’t understand that if they present a challenge to higher ups, you also need to be prepared to speak about how you’ve tried to solve those challenges. Otherwise it just sounds like complaining.

Sounds ambitious. I like it.

I would let him know the metrics, and give an angle on why. Tell him what you would do, and then ask his opinion/input. Could only help at this stage of your career

Do they know why?

Could also be setting themselves up to get fired.

"Hello Mr. CEO, my entire team has been cut except me and we've failed to deliver on our KPIs. Want to make some calls?"

I like your skepticism. Maybe shoot for a 1:1 instead.

If the entire team has been cut but you, then that means you have some clout and everyone coming in will be asking you questions and for advise. I would assume that you can give insight, and I doubt they do (they are just guessing and testing).

How do you think CEO will react to that nugget?

Smart to connect and make the connection, but maybe not as smart to ask them to cold call with you

definitely go meet them. I think asking them to make some calls with you will result in being laughed at though. You could always talk with him about how he thinks calls should be framed

UPDATE: Wisdom of the crowds seems to have suggested that asking him to do cold calls is a bad idea. I will not be asking him to do that, but I will ask for a 1:1. Thanks everyone for contributing and offering your advice.

Absolutely no harm shooting your shot. But if I were a CEO, I wouldn't appreciate this request though. Just sayinnnnn'.
