what's up sales savages!ย
I've been an AM for 8 years. I left a Sr AM role (OTE 115k) at an IoT MSP focused on SLED in September 22 for a Strategic AM role (OTE 170k) at a workflow automation platform selling to enterprise companies... only to be laid off two months later.ย
Through a connection I reluctantly accepted a CSM role (85k plus ๐ฅ bonus) February 23 at a small Saas org; they're bootstrapped so I figured it was a safer bet than another VC backed mess. I accepted it because of how saturated the job market was considering all the layoffs in tech.ย
It was one helluva challenging year from having to go back to commuting, taking a pay cut, and working with subpar talent ๐ฉ
As I come up on my one year Ive started applying again because 1) I am painfully underpaid, 2) the commute is getting to me (theyre adamant about 3 days in office which is 47 miles from my house), and 3) I want to get back to selling aka making MONEY. Ive even started applying to AE roles because they're more plentiful, pay more, and I'm tired of dealing with fires/support tix...
I recognize I accepted the offer understanding all of these drawbacks since I was unemployed. My question to the WR:
Should I stay or should I risk it again at another company? For reference, I'm in my late thirties with a house and two year old...
The people are nice and the product is OK (it's a bit clunky, built by engineers with no UX person) but they're willing to invest in people and move departments. Although I don't even think the AEs are making 6 figs ๐
end rant, rip me a new one, offer referrals, or ignore and keep scrolling ๐ญ just looking for guidance or advice
