Sketchy Behavior in Team Contest

Hello Fellow Sales Savages,

I'd appreciate your perspective on this sales content that went awry at the last minute.

In short, we were getting comped a bonus for the individual who has the most meetings kick off from May to June that centered around specific topics that our sales org identified to help generate more revenue. 1st place got $900, 2nd got $600.

I was in first place by a solid 10-12 meetings come the final day of the contest. Then slowly but surely I see my coworker start creeping up the leaderboards.

Turns out my coworker banked a bunch of meetings and waited until the final hour to load them into salesforce and added EXACTLY 1 more than me, continuously editing the meetings and adding to the meeting count until 9PM+ that night.

All this while they were officially on PTO for the last two days of the contest.

Now fellow Sales Savages.

Should I cry foul and show proof that they were working in Salesforce while allegedly on PTO

or just take it in the teeth and move on, take the $600, and continue grinding?

Appreciate your input and advice.

sketch. Very sneaky of that person. I wouldn't cause a scuff about it. I'd just take the 600 bucks and move on. Interesting to hear if your manager or others think its strange though too. You can casually bring it up in a 1:1 to be like 'woah, that was so crazy, I thought I had 1st place and then X came out of no where, they must have decided to ditch their vacation.' or something like that *shrugs*?

I'm definitely leaning towards taking the 600 and riding into the sunset then risk appearing like a sore loser/petty to my manager. I appreciate your response @slaydie.

Of course! $600 bucks ain't bad at all! Great job and move on! You don't want to be the one with the sneaky reputation at work anyways, so you did the right thing and that's all you can do

I guess it somewhat depends on how much that $300 means to you. If it were me, I would let management figure it out. Surely they will be able to see his/her edits while on PTO and depending on their management style if they do contests again, see if this happens a 2nd time.

That is shady. But the management team has the same access to see when the meetings were entered as well, so I'd take the $600 and keep my head down.

Don't sweat it my g. Those little work competitions distract us from the real prize of this here game we play: A speedboat with a big titted blondie (or a big dicked Chad for our female savs). Stay true to your game and develop your skills everyday, fuck that other bs.

This is how I would operate... no joke.

Accept your loss, take that second place.

Smart to bank them, find out what the leaders are doing, use that to motivate the hustle, see what you need to win. A decent margin +3-5

It's sales my dude. It's all a game, when you figure out the game you play in the rules to your advantage.

I bought I beer brewing kit because I thought I would pick up a hobby. I have yet to open it after about a year.

Yeast and then I proceeded to make a million bread products. Buns, bagels, desserts...no wonder I gained weight.
