as frustrating as this is and I have been there, look at these as an area for self improvement. Request feedback as to why you weren't a no brainer hire, in some cases positions do get put on hold but in most it's a nice way of saying that management was hesitant because of a flaw they saw. If there's a common theme then you know what to correct. it's the only way I know of to get better.

Yeah, this would be the best way. It sucks that it's happening to you, but keep your grind going.

Agreed. There aren't necessarily BS lies going on, sometimes we're not the right fit.

Take the opportunity to dig a little and find out how to avoid this shit in the future.

Ok, but, if they just gave a bullsh*t lie - excuse, how do I ask for feedback? And, do I ask from the hiring manager or the internal recruiter? I have to pretend that their lie is true.

โ€œWhile I can appreciate that things have shifted internally I always want to know how I could have been a better choice in their eyes where we may have been able to overcome internal shifts, is there an area of focus that was pointed out by the (interviewing manager)?โ€

or just, "Hey man I realize I'm not the guy/gal for this one but can you give me any insight that took me off your list as I look towards other opportunities? I'm just trying to find my next job and anything helps."

Presumably they are human and you might catch something back if you speak to it casually as throw me a bone man and I'll leave you be I just gotta know what's wrong with me that you/your org was seeing.

This definitely sucks!

But you know what? In the next interview, youโ€™d know better. Tell them straight up, what you expect from the recruitment process. Ask whoโ€™s be the right person for the feedback in case things go south, check for budget for this role initially so you donโ€™t waste your time. Etc etc.

This is a great answer. Take charge of the process the way you plan to take charge of a sales process.

I have been there so many times. Its important when going through a recruiter than you get past them ASAP and have your dialogue directly with the employer. That said, hiring decisions come and go quickly and are often put on the backburner when almost anything else pops up.

Know that when they reach out to you there are tons of applicants and others in the mix. Most recruiters are not great to deal with. Sorry this happened to ya.

I hate this. I have also had multiple who have interviewed me, said they would pass me on to the hiring manager, and then ghosted me hard. It is the worst.

Recruiting industry has thinned out a ton so the ones that are left have a vast amount of people theyโ€™re recruiting for one job. Iโ€™m sure youโ€™re doing fine markets just loaded with people looking

Is it an internal recruiter from the company itself or a third party?

Third party recruiters are absolute garbage and only care for their metrics and quick wins, internal folks WANT a fit.

So, most people I know did not plan on becoming a sales person initially, it just happened. So, curious to know how my fellow warriors here ended up in sales anyway ? The more interesting stories the better..!!

[RANT]. Funny how some prospects / customers feel so entitled when it comes to sales folks!
