Take a vacation

Tying this into my previous thread.

Back from a 10 day vacation. Yes, I’m on a guarantee right now as the comp plan has changed (again). Wanted to share some things that may help others in a similar boat.

  1. Burnout and frustration solves nothing.I’ve been bitter, but being remote it was apparently hidden. I let my boss know what was up, and that I needed the time. They supported me and left me alone the entire time. If your manager doesn’t, red flag.
  2. I’ve been mailing it in. An involuntary switch from leadership to IC left me bitter, as I’ve proven myself before in IC roles. Wasn’t personal, and it’s not a death sentence.
  3. I need to give it a real hit before saying I’m all done. I wanted a quick hit exit and promotion, but the customer cycle is long.

It’s easy to say “jump ship it’s a great market”, but before doing so, make sure you’ve been as hard on yourself as you are the company.

back on a plane today getting after it. Make it a great week all.

Yes, the mental health aspect is something we tend to ignore. I'm working on making sure I use up my vacation days this year.

Vacations are critical.  Whether it's a long 10 day trip or a few longer weekends it's important to develop a habit of getting away from work for a bit.

Awesome post. “Make sure you’ve been as hard on yourself as you are the company” is great advice.

Time off is so important, and I know I tend to not realize it until I'm actually enjoying some time off.  Good luck!

I understand where you're coming from. It can't hurt to take a peek to see what's out there.
