How many of you now realize that your job was created because a VC said so?

Not hitting quota? Likely not your fault. Some dude named Bailey created a deck that showed Chad that he should tell Brendon to scale up the MM segment of your business back in 2021.

Then Chadford, his GP, told all the CEOs in their portfolio to pull money from SVB because they felt like destroying something beautiful and HERE WE ARE.

I was the first post VC hire for my new job. Immediately had to dive right into hardcore fundraising-focused initiatives despite my product ownership and yโ€™know..substance behind the fluff.

I mean, consulting is just a way to have people tell you what you already know to offload the risk. The last page of every consulting report states that you need more consulting.

On the firing side of things - yeah, too much scale too quickly. Way too much bloat. Twitter is still operational with less than half of their staff and Iโ€™ve heard PE shops look at operating revs for tech companies and realize that they can buy them, ads half of the staff (including sales) and still turn a profit.

One thing to take into account is Perspective. If you're in SV, you live in such a silo that its hard to image Tech outside of SV. But for those of us who don't live in the Valley, its not really a thing.

He's so right and it will only continue to get worse with companies continuing to treat employees poorly, like a number, and giving them unfair situations and pointing fingers when they don't succeed and ultimately leave or get let go. Company loyalty is almost non existent and its because the top brass aren't even loyal to the people that make them money. Makes no sense, just selfish and greedy.
