Just thought I'd share.
Back in 2022, I had it at my old company where I went from being an SDR to being an AE. Mentally, it was quite taxing and even as an AE, my base was low. The new manager was unpleasant and they even pinged me while on PTO to get stuff done. I quit.
I got another job where my base went up by 20k even though it was at a startup. At first, I thought it was going to go well but then 3 months later, I get a random call from my boss saying my "performance" is just not there and he will set a meeting with HR to see how we can fix things.
It ends up being choosing between a PIP or getting let go with severance, I chose the latter. In hindsight, I dealt with all sorts of pettiness and it took one incompetent Director to not like me for things to go south. This person, who I email notes of a call to since they also were the ones who had to do the demo, pretended like they never read them (even though they said they did and I CC'd my boss on it) and screwed up the demo on purpose.
For 4 months, I dealt with being unemployed. I got turned down by startups saying I did not come off as polished enough to be an AE before finally, I found my new home. I also got an offer from Salesforce but had to turn it down since the pay kinda sucked.
My base, once again, went up by 20k and I am in my new spot with a VP who seems quite cool with me (knock on wood). I don't want to jinx anything here but so far, it's been a great culture shift and I like it. Who knows where this goes but I have high hopes.
If there is one thing I have learned, it is this.
Crappy companies and incompetent people who shouldn't even be employed will tell you that you are hot garbage and try to get you down.
At the same time, there will be brilliant competent people who will have your back 100% and support you.
There were incompetent and foolish companies that let you go but there are far more competent companies who know what they are doing that will bring you on.
Keep fighting the good fight and keep your head up.
