Trying to create a list of companies to apply to for an AE role, can you guys give guidance?

Hello Bravado team.

I have been applying and interviewing for AE roles and even got an offer this week that I turned down despite a 120k base. The company was Seed stage and told me I would have to likely work 80 hrs a week and be able to relocate on a dime so I had to pass on that.

I have 2 years of closing experience and a lot of SDR experience behind that.

However, I am noticing certain trends as someone in a high COL area.

  1. Big companies (Salesforce for instance) will rarely pay over a 70k base which puts me in a tough spot. I ideally want a base of 80k but do not know of any big enterprise company that will pay that for someone with my experience.

  1. Series A and early stage companies will pay a high base but as someone who has faced 2 layoffs in a row, I am super done with startups that are that early.

I want to work remote since I cannot move but want a stable enough company. I understand that my inability to move will impact shorten my pool by a lot but I was wondering how I can go about a list of SaaS companies to work for.

Ideally, I want 50 companies on this outbound list of mines.

Look into Gartner. They constantly contact me for remote roles on LinkedIn.

Who said I was a beggar? I have offers coming. Why the combative tone?

I’ll hop in- The “constantly hear how hellish” thing after what was a reasonably thoughtful recommendation, after a post that came off as a bit entitled, hit me the same way. It came off as - well, short. Like, I want a hamburger, not a hot dog. No pickles and no fucking lettuce.

I don’t think you meant it shitty. But I think the reply fit.

Depending where you’re located, you may be pretty limited if you’re not willing to go Hybrid dog.

Prob best spot too would be RepVue: https://www.repvue.com/sales-jobs/by-category/account-executive

You can filter companies that allow remote and then you can also check salary data for each company that falls into your criteria

You're making a lot of rules that are self-disqualifying. Also, you'll be in a much better position to command your salary and work environment when you're employed. Hard to make demands from the outside. I'd take the first remote role that pays you what you need and parlay it.
All of that if you need income. If you don't, stay picky. What do I know.

Hi, I would look into company's industries that most align with your experience. You can do that with a simple linkedin search in the job section and with that you can add remote as a filter too.

The only thing is you will have to read each job post and apply good judgment as to whether they fit your requirements. then for salaries and culture type the name of the company along with glassdoor salary and your location. That will give you both an idea of salary expectations based on former employees and reviews on the company.

Repvue is a pretty good resource, you can see what they pay for base and OTE, who’s hiring and even if the sales guys hit target there

I’ve had the opportunity to help build a sales team. From creating the call pitch to managing the reps and the sales funnels. Has anyone done this as a consultant or on a temp basis while also being a full time AE? How did it go? Where do you find most gigs?
