Trying to level up and leave my company

Hi Everyone!

I'm currently working as a manager of business development(tech SaaS) at a fortune 100 company and I have been here for about 5 years, consistently outperforming my peers. I work alongside many groups(implementations, client managers, SDRs etc) and I fee like it is time for me to search for other roles due to burnout, low pay etc. The leadflow has significantly gone down along with business demand due to industry disruptors, so my earnings are going to fall. I'm just wondering how I should go about seeking out another role where I can double my OTE pay and a role where I'm traveling for work. Right now I'm behind my desk for 8 hours a day and its just not good for my mental health anymore to stress about this company and all their nuances/shortcomings.

Where would you start looking if you have 7 years Fintec SaaS experience with great companies and have had a lot of good exposure to highly visible clients that you have closed. I just feel like right now I am very underpaid and there are so many opportunities out there where I could be happier and excel.

Any input is really appreciated!

They'll give you any title you want!

Ok, listen. Your post just comes off a bit tone deaf. You're sitting there at the Anacle of FinTech at a desk bagging six figures. Your main issue seems to be that marketing sucks and you deserve more.

You're insulated. You want a lift in title, income and status? You're going to have to think smaller company in our current climate. But to trade your current stability for early stage nightmares is, in my opinion, a really bad call.

You may find a VP role. You may find a comp plan that suits you. But finding a company with real product market fit that will actually pay you what's on the document is another story.

You want leads? You want pipeline to offset the current decline? Find them. Call them. Sell them. It ain't greener anywhere else at this moment.

Good luck

Apply to a competitor.

You've got 7 years somewhere, performing well. A lot of companies would jizz in their pants for that. Lean into that.

Have a salary in mind, and stick to it once negotiations come.

Also, agreed with @oldcloser's comments. If you want prestige, get a better title at a smaller company, but know that it will come at a huge cost.

I like closing role so if I were you and I want to increase my cash flow, I will take an AE role. Have you determined if you want to stick to the same industry? I would do that homework first.

So you are looking to leave due to poor performance before they kick you out. I feel ya.

i would look into the usual areas - LI, Indeed, Craigslist, Monster

I would also network like crazy with anyone else who's flown the coup there.

Still trying to level up, went through some interviews with decent names--Palantir, Visa, Mastercard, Everbridge.. No offers. Now I'm just getting rejected before I can score an interview with recruiters. Please check out my resume, let me know what I'm doing wrong here lol. Maybe its just the market? I feel like its gotten a lot tighter in the past two months, companies are looking to really stretch their value--they want a ton of experience and are paying market rates or below mkt. Thanks for the input!

When you have your LinkedIn account set to "open to work" and recruiters reach out all the time do you take the mindset of "I need to sell myself for this role" OR "The recruiter needs to sell the role to myself?"
