Upcoming College Grad

I am graduating in May 2024. I have extensive experience selling business intelligence software and cybersecurity. In addition, I have done field sales. Looking for a highly specialized SDR role that pays pretty well.Been searching through repvue but no luck getting traction through cold emailing recruiters.  Any advice?

You have extensive experience selling BI? How could you? You’re like 12 years old. Wait- did you sell Domo? They hire teenagers. Either way, why SD if you’ve closed deals? Why not sell?

No clue what Domo is but I have the same question...

How 'extensive' could it really be!? Summer internship supporting sales?

Is the field sales Cutco?

Try cold calling hiring managers - show them what you’re made off 👍🏻

I’m thinking intern somewhere. But if you are coming out of undergrad, and didn’t take gap years, I would throw out the application or delete the email if it read like this.

Treat the job search like a pipeline. Put the companies you want to work at in a list, reach out to hiring managers, get interviews, ???, Profit.
It's harder out there right now but with tenacity you can find something. I believe in you.

I kid, but not by much.

My advice - go talk to the orgs you did your previous work for, or their competitors.

Leverage referrals. For any job with an open rec, look to see if any of your connections are connected with someone who works at the company. Then reach out to your connection and ask if they would broker an intro so you can try to get referred in.

Second piece of unsolicited advice-- Try to find a company with upward growth opportunity and reputable training (preferably a big brand name). Stay at that company for at least 5 years and multiple promotions. Its easy to job hop and pick up a couple grand in base each time, but you will be much further in your career if you can grow with ONE company into a more senior role, then take your talents elsewhere

Question: why aren’t you leveraging those companies for which you’ve already worked? That’s going to be the best path to a post-college role.

Ok so get a job with one of the companies you have experience with after you graduate.
