Had a prospect for a smaller deal that seemed ready to go then ghosted for several days. Never a good sign. He let me know he was concerned that since we were expensive, that he wouldn't be using our product until January and that he didn't want to waste any of his 12 months of accesss. Fair enough.
Typically here we are able to say "hey I'll throw on X free months so this isn't a problem". But we aren't allowed to have end dates on contracts any later than 12/31/22 right now bc "the company needs to recognize revenue every year". So that's neutralized.
So I told the guy I could maintain the "discount" I had "approved" if he signed by X, and I'd have the start date be 12/31. OR, I ever so generously offered him a start date of 1/15/22 with 2 free months added on, for a smaller discount. But he had to sign before Christmas Eve.
"I get it, but we're not ready to do anything this year"
GET OUT OF MY PIPELINE THEN! This is part of why I do not mind the discount and deadline approach in my world. It's sorts the buyers from the liars.
Anyway, there is no larger point to this. I just hate this guy. Happy selling everyone.
