My question is why does it matter? I had very few instances where it was a turn off for them to want to talk to me. Even if that was the case, I was able to work something out with an AE or my Sales Manager at the time to make the call for me and give me a teachable moment. They'd get the appt, I would get credit as I sourced it. BUT if you REALLY want some other creative ways to say BDR/SDR, here you go:

Wizard of Possibility.Chief Swiss Army Knife.Futures Development Manager.Manager of Magic.Creator of Something from Nothing.

IT DOESN'T MATTER haha

While it may sound BADASS, that's another way to describe BDRs

Just own it. Any half decent C level person knows that SDR/BDRโ€™s generate new business. If they wonโ€™t take a call just because of that?โ€ฆtheyโ€™ll probably be a shitty customer honestly. Confidence and subject matter expertise (ie knowing their world and business) matter more. I donโ€™t tell people what my title is on calls, just first name and company.

I like AntiAskholeโ€™s suggestions for changing things up and keeping it fun though. Might try some of those!

But try to work another angle/multi-thread.

also, why even state your position when cold calling like that. Just say "hi, my name is _____ and I am with abc company, I was calling because...."

they don't care nor do they want to hear your whole position. they don't have time for you to begin with and a call is the last thing they want. Don't over explain who you are and just get the point.

^^ This. Why over explain? If they ask, you could tell them.

Exactly. We say โ€œbe bright, be brief, be gone.โ€ when it comes to these types of calls.

but as a BDR that's not something that would work as it is a lie. as a BDR you aren't the consultant.

Iโ€™m not saying I agree with it, just saying I have seen people use it. Consultant is a vague term so people use it to fit their needa

I can understand where you are coming from. But as I said I just don't think that it matters tbh.

I would say title matters to establish credibility.

I donโ€™t think it people will not take meetings solely of the SDRs title, but having a more important title helps

I hated it when we were told we SHOULD use fake titles. We went with ".... blah experts'. 'Blah consultants'. 'Blah specialists'. I pray to god these managers realise that CXOs see through this bullshit. It's in the pitch, not in the title.

I would just go with my title BDR. Take it or... please take it.

Enterprise Business Consultant. I have no problem owning that I'm a BDR though. Something you need to be proud of.

I think that as long as you are providing value to the conversation, the title does not matter. That is my experience at least
