What do I keep on doing wrong?

Hey, everyone my name is Siyanda..a 20 year old from South Africa. A few months ago I was working as a Sales Representative at a Retail & not so long ago I got introduced to SDR, really got Interested of this whole remote working thing.

Now I've been trying to apply to these entry level jobs as an appointment setter/ Sales Represenative in the US & other European countries but I just keep on getting rejected and I don't know what I keep on doing wrong, Could it be my Resume/ Lack of Experiance or My location??

Hi Siyanda, it’s mostly going to be your location. Even if you are remote, US companies are going to have to also comply with your country’s rules, payment, structure, etc, to have a person in your country work for them. Your best chance will be to find a company that has a presence in your country already, because they will be set up to do business there. So, even if they are HQ in the US or Europe, they may have roles for someone like you.

Have you tried finding companies like that?

It’s 99% your location, especially if you are targeting US/Euro companies. The whole remote thing is going away for many SDRs and unless you find a company wanting to move into South Africa, you’re out of luck.

But lucky for you there are plenty of companies in South Africa. Target those companies.

Doesn’t mean you’re any less qualified. Dial it in to companies that have local offices. I’ve got an Oracle partner in SA.

Agreed that it is mostly location @Siyanda - I was in Cape Town last October and there’s seems to be quite a few hospitality tech companies based there, not sure where your based in SA but definitely worth a shot

As others suggested it's mostly your location I'd bet.

Welcome to the WR and good luck with your job search!
Location mainly 4 sure to me, try to locate any outsourcing companies where you live hiring for US/other European countries, if still no results and it's okay with you to start a new SDR role with a little to no base then try other hiring platforms like LI and others particularly FB as it has tons of these!
