What has worked for me in this job hunt so far and what hasn't.

So there are a lot of posts from people saying how bad the market is and how the job hunt is deflating them. I wanted to share what has not worked for me and what has worked. For something to work for me, I must get a meeting with a hiring manager.

My process:

Every day, I apply to 5 AE Roles on LinkedIn but I am very focused and read the description thoroughly before I apply. I am not going to blindly spam apply.

If I have a connection at the company, I message them first before applying.

If the role sounds REALLY enticing, I find the cell number of the hiring manager and call them.

The next thing I try to do is post on LinkedIn every day, this is to get my profile more visibility. I post things relevant to sales.

Results to date:

Since job hunting in January, I have applied to 100 AE roles.

For every single one that I got an interview for, the trend was that I usually cold-called the Hiring Manager or had someone at the company refer me. So far, that has been the case for 11 AE roles.

For every single role I cold applied to, I have had a zero percent success rate. It is either a rejection email or not hearing back from them.

Recruiters and Inbound opportunities.

Ever since posting on LinkedIn and having some of my posts accumulate over 100 likes, I have had more recruiters reaching out.

Not only have recruiters reached out, I have had sales reps from other companies and sales leaders introduce me to some opportunities I would not have heard of.

However, there have only been 6 opportunities that have been such and most have not been very promising to date.

I will keep everyone updated but hope this somewhat helps.

The real question is how you are doing when you get the interview. What happened with those? Maybe that's somewhere the group mind here can help.

Agreed. Solid tactics otherwise. What might the bottleneck in the interview process be?

I am DQing a lot of opportunities. Usually the pay is too low like below 75k base and I am in a high COL living, others pull a bait and switch and say their "remote" job requires me to move.

Seems like you have a good approach. Have you tried cold calling some roles that would have an influence on the hiring manager? I had some luck for this in my search

Great process, thanks for sharing.

The LI inbound is intriguing, even though it hasn't yielded anything solid. What topics are you covering?

Also, I agree with @Sunbunny31 re the interviews. Can we help at all!? I think everyone here wants to see a 'new gig!' post from you

To be honest, I've got a bit of writer's block when it comes to posting on LinkedIn. I haven't worked a job with any kind of valuable sales process since early Q4 2022. I'm not even sure what to write about. Curious what kind of stuff do you cover in your LinkedIn posts?

Not close as I am saying no to a lot of opportunities.
