What Is The Easiest Way To Change Your Whole Industry?

I have personally been working in the automotive world grunting and performing back breaking work to make a living. In the last two years I have realized I cannot attain more than I am making right now due to corporations capping pay. Meanwhile I have been applying to ENTRY level positions all across the country in different industries but I can't even seem to get a call back sometimes. I get put into a pool of "don't call." I guess my question is, what is the best way to jump from one industry to the next and be noticed while doing it?

If you have a non-traditional background you need a strong resume to avoid the bin.

Are you applying to one’s local? If you applying to roles where they want you in person and you are in a different state. They might assume you won’t be willing to move.

When changing industries it’s at times a numbers game. What industry are you trying to get into and why?

If it’s Tech sales, there is a ton of info in the academy and an online class

I have applied for local jobs, cross country jobs I would willingly relocate to. I am just at a point where I want to lose my day job and work for my self when I want to.

Are you trying to just get a job or to be seen doing it? The later is the vibe I'm getting from your post.

I'm always looking for a new job. I want to learn everything there is to be learned, but I want to be acknowledged when I send in a resume or application. Not wait weeks to then see the job has been filled

Hate to tell you, acknowledgement outside of an autoresponder may not happen. I'm not sure where you're applying, but there are floods of applicants. You often won't hear anything unless they reach out for a screening call or an interview.

Best way m.. um.. not sure? It’s all about selling yourself.. read the job description, accordingly make a relevant resume, connect with people and apply..

I've jumped industries several times, but I suppose selling software isn't too different across industries.

I'm gonna default to what others are saying. Would you be willing to upload an anonymous version of your resume?

Attached is an anon resume. I just don't know how to spice up a resume where I haven't really done much or notably acheived anything.

Hi there! I can understand the frustration you're feeling about not being able to move up in your current industry and not having much luck in trying to switch to a new one. It can be tough to make a big change like that, especially if you don't have any experience in the new industry you're trying to get into.

One thing that might help is to focus on building up your skills and knowledge in the new industry you're interested in. This can help you become more competitive and give you a better chance of getting noticed by potential employers. You can do this through things like taking courses or attending industry events and networking with other professionals in the field.

Another thing that can help is to make sure your resume and LinkedIn profile are up to date and highlight any relevant skills and experience you have. It's also a good idea to tailor your resume and cover letter to each job you apply for, so that you can show how your skills and experience make you a good fit for the specific position you're applying for.

Finally, don't be discouraged if you don't get a call back right away. Keep trying and networking, and eventually you will be able to make the switch to a new industry. Good luck!
