Zoominfo helps a lot. Not a plug, but I'm able to get their cell number almost all the time. That way I save time and don't through a gk.

I do the same as @funcoupons. My thoughts are, I don’t like being cold called on my cell phone. If I’m not there to answer my office line, I am not interested in talking about business. So executives get 3 calls to their office line before I call their cell and below gets 2 calls to the office before their cell. May not be the most efficient, but it’s how I choose to operate. Fwiw; I am not in high transactional sales. It is very relationship driven and I am the one making the first impression, typically.

I try the office phone first but if there's an annoying GK or they don't pick up after a couple times I move to the cell phone.

Call every fucking number available at my disposal. One time I had a guy tell me why is cold calling still a sales model? BUahahahahahaha

The conversation went a little like this:

Prospect as soon as he answered: You just called me 3 times!

Me: Well I tried dialing the sales line went to VM, then your extension line, and now your cell phone.

Prospect: Why are companies still cold calling!?!?!?!

Me: Well is the best way to create some sort of interaction and have a conversation and he hung up.

Cell phones all day every day, Be ready for the "how did you get my number objections" but as long as your brining real value and genuine curiosity its the most direct route to your decision maker. COVID has only made it more appropriate since people are at home or on the go all the time now anyway.

With the majority of people still working from home - I go straight to the cell number (if I can find via zoom info).

I just think it hurts your chances, it's invasive. Lotta people ask ''how did you get my number'' and then ''do not contact me again'' like right off the bat.

Interesting. A couple of years ago, I would have agreed with you (then still taken the risk). Since the pandemic, and the rise of virtual/hybrid work environments, I think it is more appropriate than ever.

I almost strictly call cellphones. I rarely waste my time on an office line anymore, unless the cell number I have is out of service.

I will say I used to get that response. “How did you get my cellphone number” and “why are you calling me on my cellphone”… and while it’s ballsy, my response would be to laugh a little and say “Bama, it’s my job to get in touch with you. Wouldn’t you expect the same from any of your top reps who are looking to grow your business?”

9 times out of 10 I would get “Yea, I guess you’re right. Whatcha got?”

A fair amount of executives respect the grind… and if they don’t, move on and follow up at a later time.

That said, I rarely get this objection anymore and I call about 250 executive cellphones a week.

Love and respect your perspective, I'm definitely going to use this. I'm fairly new in sales so I'm still learning. Great advice, my friend!

This method isn’t for the faint of heart or the average cold caller that hates dialing. Where I see reps fail is when they sound robotic, timid,  monotone and repetitive.

You have to speak confidently and let them know you are calling intentionally about their company. You have to be specific and direct… but also make it conversational like you are calling someone you have known for years.

You aren’t in the business of wasting anyones time, especially your own.

Portraying these things will increase your win rate. 👍🏼

When I call cell phones I dont know the person and they say something I pretend its a mistake like “oh so sorry, meant to call your work line.” But its much easier in a lot fo cases to get someone on their sell especially in a closing or urgent situation
