What should I negotiate on this promotion?

Got a question for you. Just got told I am being promoted to Manager/Director (managing 7 AE’s level 3,4, and 5's with quotas ranging from 500k-900k). It's just me and one other sales leader being promoted. We're a smaller startup that just reached $5M ARR a last month. We're located in Lehi, Utah.

I’m stoked but not sure what to negotiate for. Anyone have some good insight on what you would do.

What thoughts do you have on stock options, base pay, and commission rates on team?

Current: have a 100k base and receive 3% commission on 5 reps as a team lead/player-coach. This OTE ends up at around 200k.

Offer received:

Managing 7 AE's at 100k base with commission percentage kept at 3%. OTE coming out to 240k.

Your org is doing $5M and you've got 100k +3%? I really don't want to burst your bubble. If you think you can get more, hit'em in the base or the equity department. Maybe just ask them to subsidize your health insurance at 100%.

Why not the override? 3% on collected gross revenue is in the stratosphere! I'd take your deal all day long just like it is. You get that puppy to $10M - you're at $400k. You have a really solid plan. Congrats on the promotion.

Edit: Why not ask for a VP/Director title? Those are free.

Sorry, I should have been more clear that the 3% on my 7 reps comes to an OTE around $240k range. That 5M is not from my team alone.

Still a very solid deal at $5M. Sounds like a great place to be. You could "gnat" them to raise the OTE at each $1M mark. What's another $50k out of a mil?! I know. It's 5%, but the leap from 5M to 6M is 20%. Merely a pittance.

I would be down to take this off as it is, sounds much better than usual offers. But if you really want to up the ante, ask if you can trade salary dollars for more commission %. That would be 🔥

Get a title bump and additionally see if the org is willing to include progressive base bumps with certain performance thresholds being met.

Congrats on the promotion.

More base would be nice but that deal isn’t terrible as is.

Personally I’d focus on title and equity.

Short-term, title alone can open doors to new opportunities.

If you’re in it with this company for the long haul then get equity every step of the way. For the company, equity is more or less Monopoly money, but long term could make you a multimillionaire.

For lehi ut that’s pretty good money. Get the title and be happy. If you can get a 25% bump in base, grab it.

I would ask for a base bump, but shit, 3% of all sales is huge.

Well done on your promotion! Seems like the company is growing so I would negotiate for more benefits if possible and higher base.

Congratulations!
100k for base at least sounds reasonable to me,but just wondering if they've offered you anything already,or not yet!

You think a company at 5M ARR should pay a second line sales manager $350,000/year? Could you share your perspective? On what basis would you make this recommendation?
