What SHOULD your CRM do?

I know there was another thread about everyone’s favorite CRM - but I only have experience with my company created version. I am quickly learning that there are many features that were completely left out, and has required extra effort on my part that is completely redundant (think 48585869596 excel spreadsheets of DOOM!)

I would love to know what your top performers do that make them awesome!

on the flip side, what would you change?

Your CRM should be your external brain that makes your life easier.

It's impossible to remember every single demo months later, that's why logging meetings in a CRM is crucial. However, logging a call is a pain in the ass. It's a tough balance.

I get that, and I definitely want a centralized source with all of that data. But there are no reminders to follow up, no edit features......so much extra data input.

Also, we are not given any leads. we have to manually enter every single one. including all contacts, SIC code, revenue, employee count, address, website......literally everything. They give us email templates to send through their system but they're absolute shit so I never do. So we basically do all the cold outreach, warming, meetings and closing solo. It's a lot to do! So I'm just wondering if there are ways to be more efficient.

CRM is an out dated system that many firms believe they need to have in order to have their house in order. There are many emerging industries and technologies that greatly outperform CRM. The big thing is, what do the different people in your organisation want from your tech stack. There will never be a tool that covers it all, which is why firms like forrester and gartner make millions running waves and magic quadrants. CRM is an electronic version of what your dentist has behind their desk. Hope this helps, might get you thinking of what you need to do your job & take that to the DMs in your business.

I'll try and respond without Bias but I would much rather a techstack of:
Sales engagement
sales enablement
conversation intelligence
Over CRM, any day.

CRM in theory is easy to deploy as its one saas but everyone knows it can take months to deploy salesforce.

Where as most other SAAS are ready off the shelf.

There has to be a happy balance for leadership reporting but end user intuitiveness.

Cool POV! My take on it is the combination of what you said with a CRM. Also I feel like you are thinking of a CRM as a purely sales thing while the power is when you use it as a platform also for other depts so you can have more visibility
