What would you do? Money or Consistency?

Savages,

Less than 6 months ago I started a new role that is 1. Challenging 2. Well paid 3. Great people.

Sounds like the dream?

Fortunately, through connections I've been offered several job offers, all of which I've declined.

The last one, has kept me thinking and wanted to bounce this situation with you all.

Offer is 1. Challenging 2. 2X the salary. 3. Great leader (do not know the people yet) 4. Possible rocketship!

What would you do?

Stay centered and loyal to your current job and leaders, take the new offer?

loyalty does not pay the bills. If 2X salary means an improvement on life quality (whatever you consider that is: more food on the table, more time with family, bigger bank ACC, etc.) I don't see why not...ย

"Loyalty does not pay the bills" love that - wish it was that simple though. I think there are some bonds and opportunities worth more than money, but then again, not sure so thank you for the advice!

Current company isn't very "loyal" to you if they're paying you half of what you're worth.

The concept of loyalty to a company stuns me...does anyone think that if they were underperforming that management would sit around saying "yeah, he kind of sucks but I feel like we should keep him around out of loyalty..." LOL

Thanks braintank - I guess I didn't really know I was worth 2x already - When I took the job - I was planning for a year or 2 to get that 2x.ย

True that, I'd expect them to coach and develop the individual instead of replacing though, but yea - Loyalty is a big word to use in the corporate world, appreciate the nudge.

If that 2x salary is a sustainable thing, then go for it. It sounds like a good jump.

I would compare more details. What does the product <> market fit look like? Customer reviews? Equity packages? Territory assignment? Any inbound lead flows? How many other reps are on each team?

You can leave a job after six months without burning a bridge. Every good leader would know not to hold you back from an offer that is too good to turn down. If you do accept the other offer, maybe give your current role more time to backfill.

Thank you for this! Product market fit is legit, it's a booming industry so start up rocketship all the way! Nothing else is clear yet around equity or customer reviews - seed round was a couple of months back.

If I wanted consistency I wouldnโ€™t have taken a job in sales. Iโ€™ll choose money every single time. That mindset has done pretty well for me this far

Bro.. this is a no brainer.

Live for you first. Living for your work 2nd, even above other things is fine, but live for you first.

Loyalty really is important, but you gotta take those once-a-lifetime chances.

Theres no way your current company can match it. ย If youโ€™ve done your due diligence, and is ship is worthy, you get on it and you donโ€™t look back.
