What you think about Trent Dressel? Annoying as hell in my opinion

Hey savages,

I see now more and more, all of these linked in sales gurus promoting websites and so on where this guy is teaching how to cold call and how to be a great sales person.

Didn't he got fired because he was pushy and shit?

How do you separate the real people who you can learn from and all these hyped personas going around?

Is Tony Robbins credible? To some he’s god tier. To others he’s a buffoon. It’s like anything else. Critical thinking applies. There is no magic sales pill. Find what resonates with you in your day-to-day if you need it.

Is this why he got fired? I remember on his YouTube channel back in November or something he talked about being on a PIP. But then he also supposedly grossed over $300k in 2022, which doesn't sound like something someone on a PIP would be earning.

All I know is if he's actually telling the truth and not bullshitting, he's way more accomplished than I am at a much younger age.

Some Qualtrician put him on blast on Reddit. Seems like he maximized timing, territory and self-righteous over persistence.

It paid off till the PIP.

I'm friends with several actual Enterprise-level Qualtics people. They basically confirmed the same. Also added in unprompted that he's just as annoying in person too.

Right place, right time, till it's not...still a douche. Made some hay while the sun was shining tho.

"Trent definitely works hard and has been grinding since the early days of being an SDR. With that said, his meteoric success can largely be attributed to entering the specific product line he sells at the perfect time. Essentially it was a COVID employee contact tracing system for organizations and literally every company was spending stupid amounts of money on it anticipating it being a requirement by the federal government. His back to back promotions came during that time and most of that product team has the best years of their career."

@SiliconBBQThat's exactly what I fucking thought.

Sometimes you feel like "Maybe...maybe they actually got something" but as you said:

Right place, right time, till it's not and you catch it if you are lucky

That makes sense. I wasn't super familiar with Qualtrics other than that SAP owned (still owns?) them, but I only know that because my wife works at SAP. And I only knew about Trent from this place and the handful of videos that popped up on my YouTube feed over the past couple of years.

Pretty sure this is the comment he had posted right before he announced he was let go - we had a pretty animated discussion about his tactics at the time (search for it, might be worth a read).

Learning how and when to pick your battles is a key part of being successful in business and in life, frankly.

And taking everything personally is a bad, bad way to go through life, work life and personal life.

I don’t think he’s a bad guy. I might think he’s a tad on the spectrum cause he doesn’t get social cues loool

It's like anything else, take the good and the bad from all sources, and create your own style. Just because some schmuck says he's a guru doesn't mean he is.

Insufferable mentality and part of why sales people get a bad rap.

I generally like his videos but calling someone every other day after they just opted out of an email is ridiculous.

When a prospect opts out I'll call them a couple of weeks or a month later since they would've forgot about my email by then

Can't stand him (went to school with him) and now he's starting his own podcast..100% he's going to tell people to call prospects on their honeymoons.

Tbh I think about every podcaster I’ve met in real life was a self righteous douche minus a select few. I think he’s a smart guy with good tactical level advice but he’s gung ho as fuck. If you want to separate the real from the fake it’s kind of tough - you can usually only assess that if you have a real interaction with them. FE: I had a high profile sales influencer reach out to me about their training course a while back and his entire approach was Salesy as fuck and slimey. Complete 180 versus what he posts about lol

I have issues with his last post on so many levels ( https://www.linkedin.com/posts/trentdressel_you-probably-know-how-frustrating-it-can-activity-7074450795303239680-S0XJ/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop).

These are definitely some of the reasons he got fired (not laid off, fired). 46 calls to someone is straight up stalking, not "professionally persistent"...
