It really depends on what type of email. If a true cold prospecting email, I make it something about them โ€œ<company> recently announced XYZ which leads to XYZ trends we seeโ€ฆโ€

Something like that. Nothing fancy.ย

"Hey, We used to do business with you...."ย  Because I'm not fucking with clients who are brand new.ย  (We have PLENTY of past accounts to reconnect with)ย

I sell recruiting/staffing services so I always include one of our senior resources' profiles to emails to open conversation. Candidates drive the requirements which open new accounts for our company. We are a very niche company focusing in one type of cpm software so large companies going through implementations typically will see our value being so specialized and already knowing the market/top talent in the US.

I know this info probably isn't useful for non-recruiting sales but maybe there is a crossover somewhere?ย

Just make it custom.ย  Not "fake custom" (sorry, automating my name, company, job title, or any of that bullshit isn't custom.ย  Use the subject line to showcase you give a shit, then transition from that into your value prop.ย  Worst case scenario, if the timing is off on your value prop, you earned the reply letting you know to move onward.ย  If you are doing prospecting right, you should get responses that say 1) lets chat on Tuesday or 2) the timing is off, but awesome email, much respect.ย  There is no prospecting easy button.ย
