Where are you looking for jobs?

I'm actively looking to get out of my terrible work situation. However, I've made several poor choices (bad fit) for the last few companies I've joined.

I keep surfing linkedin/repvue (not good for management roles) but it feels overwhelming. (Yes, I already signed up on bravado, no bites yet).

How are you going about sourcing companies to work for?

I'm looking for an IC or SDR Manager role:

-remote first culture

-b-corp

-good product market fit

-people over profit ideology (stretch I know)

-100-500 employees

No Iโ€™m not sure but I accidentally found myself in a customer success role and itโ€™s a different kind of hell.

I always dive into my circle of influence first. It pays to network constantly. I think I saw someone on here, maybe @TennisandSaleswho mentioned something about always having an ongoing list of "places I would totally work at". No matter if you are "comfy" or "stable", there will always be something that could change at a moments notice.

What does networking look like for you?

for me, it looks like reaching out to people in key roles at companies that I have been following or are on my "companies to work for in the future" list.

normally a director or VP role.

I typically try to find some reason other than "hey want to get to know you"

normally something they have said or posted sparks a reason to reach out and try to connect initially that way.

Just went through a fairly exhaustive job search and repvue, Glassdoor, and LinkedIn were my top tools to find the best companies to work for. I was looking for fully remote or hybrid, strong GTM strategy, clear product market fit and demand and most important of all - 50-60+% attainment across the board (repvue helped immensely here). Also, is the product and MUST HAVE or a nice to have? Thatโ€™s key. Call me dumb but industry and company size didnโ€™t matter all that much to me.

Then i prospected the hell out of those companies for 2 months differentiating myself and making my value prop overtly clear.

I think what you just mentioned on selling a product that is a MUST HAVE is a huge variable of success right now. It's hard as hell to get meetings/legit opps through cold channels right now

Great insights here. How were you recognizing that โ€œmust haveโ€? Also, how are you able to tell if a company has great GTM strategy?

Check the jobs tab. LinkedIn. Indeed. Google. Go to the company websites.

Iโ€™m mostly overwhelmed by actually finding the companies, not so much on the roles themselves.

If you know the industry than I would look at a list of companies attending industry related conferences and check out their websites and LI profiles of key Execs. Reach out directly.
