Where can I find developers who will work for equity?

I apologize this has nothing to do with sales.

I have a side project and I'm looking for a website/mobile app developer who will work for equity. Does anyone here know of a site that connects developers with entrepreneurs?

edit: the comments are great, most of the suggestions are for hiring a developer, not partnering with one.

I found a few sites now that are for founders wanting to find a partner with particular skill sets;

Founders-nation.com

CoFoundersLab.com

Yeah there's actually a bunch. However, you will be at a disadvantage if you don't know code.
NEVER work with an agency, they will fuck you. Upwork is cheap and decent but hire fast and fire fast because there's devs that masquerade as independent but are really working for agencies.
Expensive option is Lemon dot io, this is the boujee option but they're good. I'm not 100% if they'll work for equity.
Cheers

This is probably the best answer you get. I wonder about Fiverr, if that's still a thing..

Just heard back from Lemon, they won't have their devs do it for equity. $65-$95/hr
I think I'm in the wrong business...

Ah bummer. Upwork, Fivver and maybe “WeWorkRemotely” will be better

Make sure you’ve got a NDA in place so they don’t build and take your IP.

Can you find people on LinkedIn?

Possibly, but I don't want to pitch the idea to a bunch of developers that could just say no and then do it on their own.

Afraid I don't know anyone who specializes in different takes. Tough place to get into it.

I would lean toward Upwork

prob upwork would be a good start, if you work in tech maybe even trying reaching out to people and ask if they will have a conversation. I think it will be hard to find someone just for equity unless you have a personal relationship with them or if they really believe in your idea.
You could always get the premium version of chat gpt and have it code almost a prototype of what it will do and how it will look and then some with a power point and extensive market research and a great story you can take it to angel investors and they'll give you money for equity to have it developed. The only issue with that is unless if youre are an absolute expert in the field no ones gonna give you money bc everyone has an app idea or a idea for a saas tool, why you. And it has to be more convincing than well I came up with it.

I wouldn't give me money if I was an angel investor 🤣
Id rather pay someone to do the work, but I don't have enough saving for that, the only way I can think of to get this done is to sell the idea enough to a developer that wants to be a part owner and then I'll go sell the hell out of it.

then maybe entrepreneurship isn't for you lol build up a prototype or rough draft of what is supposed to be and work, meet with developers see if they'll build a prototype for equity take it to angel investors sell them get money from them buy back the equity from the original developer and pay them a fee to build it hire more people to finish building it create a GTM strategy. If you can find someone who you dont have a relationship to do for equity make sure you have a lawyer write up the contract, and id be very impressed if you found someone from upwork to do it for just equity to build it start to finish

I doubt I would find someone on upwork either, 100% on having a contract written up. Thanks for the other advice!

After seeing how these large Tech companies treat their layed off employees, will this make companies twice before doing business with them
