Wild idea that most of you will hate

SO MANY posts asking about cold call openers. What if there was a way to post a phone number and we all call and give our cold call opener as a recording, those audio files get posted, and we can get feedback from the group? The assumptions would be everyone's name is Steve and works for Buffalo Bills Lotions (anything works as long as it's not real so there's no accidental doxxing of yourself) then the rest of the info would be specific to your product/company so it's your actual pitch without being too identifiable.

Idk how this would work in practice, I'm spitballing here.

Heres what I do know- iron sharpens iron, and I'd rather a critique from you lot than my manager who hasn't stepped foot in the field in 15yrs.

What are your thoughts?

I know you didn't expect me to call you today.
Do you mind if i take 30 seconds.
I'll tell you why I called you specifically
Then you can tell me whether or not it makes sense for us to speak?
Typically when i talk to {other people like you}
They struggle with {pain}
Which results in {business impact}
What we do is ... {elevator pitch}
Sound even moderatley interesting?

So the idea isn't terrible at all, however everyone sells such different products in here so I believe the "coaching" would have to be segmented based on target vertical and persona. Quite frankly it could be a great way to form a coaching business for organizations. repository of calls over a course of 2 weeks reviewed and coached for improvement.

Yeah, but I’m thinking more in the mechanics of how much time do you waste with “hi how are ya” BS, how clearly you communicate, too quick/slow to ask for the meeting, etc.

Less specific to the product and more on the anatomy of a cold call in general. Ya know?

Although I do think I may have just created a new product for Bravado to sell. Hahaha

Yes, even the anatomy though is dependent on persona. The anatomy of a call to someone in marketing/sales is highly likely to be very different than someone in the technology/engineering/dev space. although the goal is the same the way you approach the call is likely very different.

I agree, totally! I meant to put that you’d start by mentioning WHO you’re contacting (role) but, apparently I missed that sentence. Ha.

You’re absolutely right that depending on persona, your approach can/should change. But that’s precisely why I think crowdsourcing critiques is good bc we have ppl who sell to all different personas in here. Rather than it being a single source who has limited experience, leverage the array in here.

Yes, also the people reviewing should have to somehow prove they've successfully done this in the past and not be some douchebag influencer from Linkedin. Also no Gong reps can be judges. I have spoken

I agree with your last statement! Hearing ppls tone and HOW they deliver the script could be helpful…..idk if i would do it though haha.

A huge ego boost for me is watching Corps cold call reenactments and hearing how folks at other orgs are talking. I'm usually pretty underwhelmed and end up feeling more confident in my own tone hahaha

I like the idea, not sure how we execute. We do a lot of in person presentations in my industry, and practicing to do them on video that you can play back and watch you cadence, timing, movement, etc was always helpful.

You're right. I don't like it.

But that's ok. Throwing new ideas on the pile is good.
