Will Allred

is the new Brandon from Seamless or any of the other dozen shock-value creators. Talks shit about sales reps and doesn't offer solutions.

I will never use or pay for Lavendar. Doesn't matter if it's good, the CEO ruined the brand.

He’s a hunk of a shit. It’s all become just a boring clickbait game, and Linkedin has devolved right down that path.

I like Will's sales memes more than the advice, every once in awhile there is a good post, but some are just click bait

The product is not worth paying for. I trialed it and did not miss it one bit when it expired. The UI is also garbage

Is your problem more with the delivery or the message/content?

I'm new to sales... but the advice seems fundamentally correct.

E.g., less spam, more personalization, cut the fluff, have an observation

What might I be missing?

The product is good for shortening your messages without spending the time to do so manually.

But yes, I have noticed a change from marketing their product to bashing the people who might actually use it. They are trying to make a point, but just being dicks.

Feel free to bash back on LI.

Will is a marketing guy not a sales guy. Would take his sales process rants with a grain of salt

I used Lavender before they blew up, was a fan. They secured 8 figures, got turned off by their online presence. But I am sure they have 4x their customers because of their online presence so hey, what gives right?

While he gives “tips” it’s not useful beyond what you learn through…discovery. Aka what he didn’t want the rep to do.

Question since I’m not as familiar with this process, in tech sales before you hop on a meeting with someone I would assume some research is done on the company and person(s) you’re meeting with to better prepare you for the discovery phase ? Also is there a reason why you wouldn’t be able to demo at that first meeting?

Assumption correct, yes. Anyone shows up without at least a handful of answers has failed. The research drives the disco question. A demo on first call is more typical with a more simple solution. The simpler the solution, the shorter the sales cycle.

I don’t think he was wrong. But he could have framed the whole thing in a much more sales friendly way. He’s a prick.

I agree there, blasting a sales call on linkedIn for clicks and clout is pure d-bag.

Woof. Just... he's the founder of a company that serves sellers. How does he think that punching down on someone who's clearly a newbie seller is going to look like anything other than gross and cruel?

Exactly! Don’t attack an early-career rep. Attack their manager and enablement team, sure, but empathize and help the under seasoned rep rather than throw your hands up and quit.

He def sounds like one- I do agree that it's essential to find a balance between providing valuable insights and maintaining a positive and respectful tone in interactions. Which he does not seem to have.

I don’t care if the CEO ruins the brand honestly. If the product creates lift compared to others, why not? Gotta make that money.

Interestingly enough I disagree with you. I don't like a lot of LinkedIn influencers, but 99% of Will's posts are backed up by data. He's provided a large number of actionable frameworks and examples.

Lavender is a pretty helpful tool.
The circlejerk of hating LinkedIn is so over the top sometimes lol.

You’re welcome to form your own circle. Any post that shit talks sales reps by the CEO of a company that serves sales reps is simply unacceptable.
