Working remotely in Australia

Hi Y'all,

Long story short- my girlfriend and I moved to Sydney, Australia. I found a sales job here but the salaries in Sydney compared to the cost of living is terrible.

So I am trying to find U.S startups that will let me work from Australia. I have 3+ years of experience as a Enterprise BDR.

If anyone knows of a website that I can find remote roles that pay in USD or if anyone knows anyone that has an open remote BDR Role please let me know.

Cheers

Good luck on the move, Sydney always looked amazing to me :)

Regarding your job search, I`d start approaching US startups that have their eye on the Aus NZ market. One way to go about this is to use linkedin search (or sales nav).

I.e. On Sales Nav, go to lead filter, enter company HQ USA, geography : Australia and NZ, and proceed with other filters like which type of industry you are looking for, company headcount size, you can even filter by company headcount growth rate (so you`re only seeing contacts from companies that are growing right now, which means they are prob hiring)

Then, I`d connect with the hiring managers in these companies, plus any HR/TA/Recruit roles, and start a cold outreach campaign. I`m sure you`ll have some traction soon enough.

Again, I'd focus on selling to the AUS/NZ market but working for a US company as you said, working on the US market would be too hard cause of the time zones..

Could be worth looking into companies that either already have a presence or are growing in EMEA easier on the time change.

You speak Arabic/ Mandarin/ Japanese?

This is as comprehensive as it gets. FWIW, thereโ€™s no way Iโ€™m making a sales hire of any kind in AUS/NZ unless the role is designed to sell into those markets. We just ainโ€™t nocturnal creatures.

Could be a good cold call tactic: call these mfโ€™s in the middle of the night. Ainโ€™t no excuses to be busy or in a meeting at 4am.

I'd be surprised if there is a company that would allow this because of the time difference, I think SFDC is hiring for BDRs in AUS right now, Afterpay, Indeed

Exactly what I was thinking. You won't be able to sell to the US market unless you're working your night shift.

You might be able to find a North American company selling into NZ/AU, so I'd do what @ZVRK laid out.

Good luck!

I know some companies like Podium have offices in Australia where SDR's work. I don't know that they would pay you an American salary though
