I needed to create a quote for the customer. Extremely urgent.
Salesforce CPQ would not allow me to create this quote for some reason. Not unusual I thought, our Salesforce has issues half of the time.
So I reached out to the quote support team. They were utterly confused and tried everything they could and eventually directed me to a Salesforce admin/ engineering/ pricing team. They said that if I can give them a few days, they will prioritize this request and create this functionality for me. 15 people got involved and after 4 days, a very happy team said that the functionality exists now and that I can go ahead and try it and quote what I needed. So I did.
Customer was pushing on me and asking for an update for pricing every day because they had a management meeting coming up and he wanted to secure the budget for it.
The price on the quote seemed somewhat low but I thought it was because this was all a new process. I sent the quote to the customer. A few moments later an extremely happy and thrilled customer rings me and ask if everything is alright with me and how have I been doing lately.
Customer then cheerfully announces that this quote I sent has 99.98% discount on it and he just wanted to double check before they place the order since it seemed a "a little bit too low".
I mean maybe I should find a job in a non-profit...
Turns out that this process was changed years ago but because it was such a rare product, they did not bother to update the information or remove it from the price book. Salesforce and pricing teams were happy to add it and it didn't flag it to director level for high discounts.
Everyone had a laugh (except me) and customer bought something different.
Any CRM or pricing blunders you have had recently?
