Account Manager/Farmer vs New Logo/Hunter

Curious how people feel about the two different roles and which one is worth investing in career wise. My previous role was a 50/50 split of both, but as I apply for jobs, I'm seeing a lot of one or the other only rather than a mix. Have you worked both roles? What did you enjoy about focusing primarily on one or the other? Which one helps you make the most money in the long run?

Sales will bring more money, but it's a more risk/more reward scenario.
If you enjoy working with customers for longer times, more deeply, and with less risk, AM might be for you.

i have seen much higher base salaries for new logo/hunter.

Having to do both AM and AE work can be alot! When there has been a solid CSM involved it made a HUGE difference.

much prefer the new business, only have to engage with them one cycle as opposed to constantly.

I prefer New Logo, just mainly due to the fact that I have more opportunity rather than only my current customers to buy from me.

True. The world is your oyster so to speak. I kind of like a combination of both, but that has been hard to find.

I think it's different everyone. One of the key things is how risk averse you are
