Advice Needed: Note Taking Automation

edit: respect the feedback (also loling).
post needs clarification: if we have the same BDR follow us in “relevant” meetings of the cycle, we utilize their involvement to keep AEs engaged & BDRs learning. often this ends up with the BDR/AE reconciling notes against what we heard (templates…yep i get it).

tl;dr- anyone converting audio to text to sales insights (for a small team)? interested to hear your feedback on how this type of workflow scales vs. nuances in process. the glaring issues are with deep discovery, demo and exec alignments

Savages,

I work for a relatively small consultancy that has a sales engine that looks like most other SaaS companies (i.e. an outbound BDR motion with an assigned AE).

Due to the nature of how many prospects we make contact with vs. what we end up qualifying into, we rely heavily on notes during various handoffs to get our internal stakeholders up to speed.

An issue expressed to me by my BDR was that she is taking a good chunk out of her day to maintain the notes for our various opportunities. Assuming this is commonplace for anyone without a specific tool to automate this type of workflow? Luckily she’s smart enough to hinge an investment case on freeing her up to continue her outbound efforts.

So… what’s the hive mind got in terms of solutions we might be able to present to leadership vs. their cost vs. the right size for a team of ~5? Any help is greatly appreciated. .

Your BDR is lazy. Unless you're talking about 20-30 opportunities per day, she needs to pull her big girl pants on and take the notes.
You could create a template to help with the most pertinent info, but other than that you need to tell her that taking accurate and timely notes is part of the job.

Your BDR is either a whiny bitch or dumb.
Maybe create a template in CRM they can use?
What are y'all looking to "automate"?

Reconciling insights from a template I provide vs. what we heard in the meeting has become an issue (and something i would prefer not to spend time on). BDR is along for the ride as a training exercise even deep into the cycle

Why are they spending time "reconciling" notes?
What does that even involve?

Never used it but have seen a lot of ads or people talk about Scatchpad and it syncing directly with Salesforce.
For note taking "automation" what parts are you looking to automate, like it has the script from the call and puts it directly in the crm opportunity?

Sadly it feels like most of the good tools price out smaller sales teams. Hope you find something that is great and on budget!

Can't gong help with recording and insights? (ducks for cover from gong haters)

Yes Gong can cover the functionality.
- transcripts
- call summaries
- AI modeled trackers
- insights

But I also agree with @CPTAmerica that small teams can get squeezed out. Gong runs in the neighborhood of $1500/user/year.

What kinda CRMs you're using to help out with that or it's just all manual?!

I mean it’s her job to write them notes down but if you really wanna automate it all. Connect your call recording software to Eden AI which will transcribe the voice into writing and then you can have that sent to chatGPT and have it summarize your typical key elements and then have it log into the CRM or sent as email
