"American" Sales Training, Does it Work in Other Markets?

I realise that many on this platform likely call "Merica" home, however as an Aussie working for an American company I'm often left frustrated by the heavy US centric sales training pushed out of HQ. A lot of it just doesn't work when selling to Australian personas as culturally its viewed as cheesy or over the top it most cases.

Does anyone else have this problem in markets outside of the US?

Have you provided feedback up the line and have they altered the training programs?

Genuine question: what makes it miss with Australian personas? TBH I think most sales training is a huge miss here too lol.

My old company actually sent one of our enablement people to our Sydney office for a year and *I think* they developed a slightly different enablement program specific to our EMEA team.

Definitely important to take cultural differences into a/effect (I've had 3 beers and don't care) when prospecting.

In the UK everything tends to be way more direct and less 'salesy' than in the US as people aren't comfortable with being sold to.

JB sales did a good webinar on this subject though it is focused on europe.

Not really, Carlos Ghosn portrayed how difficult it is to assimilate western culture into eastern culture, specially japanese. However, there are things that can be applied from all cultures to make processes better for each niche market.

I noticed a lot of cultural differences between my first 2 sales jobs. One was for a french corporate the other for a US corporate. Day and night difference.
