Attn Management

Why

After many requests to divorce LinkedIn from my WR profile.

Am I getting requests to connect today? From a close, as in I can see them right now, colleague no less.

I don't share that I'm on the WR. I don't want people to find me.

Fucking. Fix. This.

Prett please.

Out of curiosity, were you able to make an appointment to talk to the devs? I wasn't able to - but I think this might be covered.

So the public profiles are going away? Or we will be able to opt out of it completely? We also will be able to disconnect our LinkedIn from our WR account? We will be able to see who actually upvotes us again?

1. Public profiles are not going away
2. You are currently able to manually change your public name to something else to 'opt out', but we are now finding ways to divorce public from Linkedin.
3. Yes? But not right now. As we already have seen, the WR has delicate fabric holding it together, it isn't a simple switch (on/off), it's more like finding the right wire to cut out of tons of wires. If we cut the wrong one... we'd rather wait to make sure it's the right one.

I've only gotten one, but it scared me enough that I'm now 'Private Private' with everything scrubbed.

Oh no. I'm still not sure what "connecting" here even gets you. I don't want to "connect" with anyone - but this probably makes me not the Bravado ICP.

Hey everyone! You are absolutely not getting ignored, this issue is top of mind and we discuss it on a weekly cadence.

I know it’s not the solution any of you want, but to clarify, there are two main versions of you on Bravado:
1. Professional/Public Profile (Since 2017) - The name you used to sign up with Bravado. This includes data you've shared in "My Portfolio", which comes with its own ability to private elements within the portfolio page. [Connections come from here]
2. Private/Anonymous WR Profile (Since 2021) - The username you chose to interact anonymously within the WR. This anon WR username only exists within the WR.

These two are NOT connected in any way. Only you can see them both. With that...

Here’s some further context:
- Bravado currently uses LinkedIn to verify that all of you are who you say you are (so your LI is linked to your public profile on Bravado)
- Your anonymous WR identity is NOT linked to your public profile/LI
- Connections requests are coming in because of your public profile/LI
- Users who imported their contacts and have your public profile/LI are able to see your public profile on Bravado and send a connection request (never your WR username)

What you can do (for now) :
- Go to your “My Portfolio”
- Turn off “Share to Web”
- You will receive confirmation that it is “Not Shared”
By doing so, you are removing your public portfolio from being discovered on Bravado/the web.

[Bonus Steps] To scrub you off Bravado:
- Change your first and last name via My Portfolio
- Remove all your work experience from My Portfolio
By doing so, you are super-removing your public portfolio from being discovered.

What Bravado is currently working on:
- Tracking down the instances where users get connection invites from other users they don’t believe should have their contact info
- A solution to separate public profile from LinkedIn without breaking anything
-The ability to delete your public profile while leaving your anonymous WR profile intact (yes, this is different from above)
- The ability to opt-out ENTIRELY from Connections

Why are these features taking so long?
Because product development is a 6-12 month process, with these steps ( https://www.productplan.com/glossary/product-development-process/)!These issues occurred in Feb/March, and we are now in early stages of diagnosing the issues/finding the fixes.

To summarize, receiving connections invites does not mean this user knows your anonymous WR handle. And no, your public profile is NEVER linked to your private profile. It does mean a user has discovered your public professional profile, and wanted to connect!
