Back at it tomorrow

I was having a moment at the Monterey Bay Aquarium's otter tank that reminded me of Cam in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. There I was, a grown ass man staring in to the kelpy  depths when suddenly I snapped out of a fifteen minute trance. I had, nay felt this overwhelming calm - my pipeline was far away, my apps on the phone were deleted, and I was about to nosh on some overpriced food and coffee. Through all of that the otters, obviously, didn't care at all.

My kid leaned over to rest his head on my arm and I realized that's why I deal with assholes stringing me along and never buying. That is why I deal with a heavy-handed (and woefully ignorant) board.  That is why I call and I email and I call and I email and I call and I call prospects. Just for a moment where I can be lost in a serene moment with my kid. He will never know how much that one moment will fuel me throughout the year.

I only just realized that the music playing in the movie is a synth version of a Morrisey song. "please please please, let me get what I want."

Get it Savages. But remeber why.

Great post!

I love that aquarium. All the better that you could share it with your kid.

Also - heading out to the end of Pacific Grove and just watching the waves coming in over the rocks in the evening. Love that too. Sublime part of the world.

always remember why we do what we do. It makes it so much more worth it.

It's nice to get those little reminders from time to time.

This reminds me of what Homer Simpson has up at his desk: Burns makes a sign saying "Don't Forget, You're Here Forever" but with pictures of Maggie, Homer makes it "Do It For Her"

I loved that part so much. That episode is surprisingly heavy going back to watch it as a late 30s professional family guy.
