Been having this conversation a lot with clients, so I asked Bravado AI... What is the best cold call opening?

Cold/Warm calls have been a constant conversation lately, so I asked Bravado AI to chime in... and found it very interesting how many start with questions.

Doesn't opening up the conversation with a question also open the door to ending the conversation? They answered the phone, so they already made the decision that they "have time" and "can be interrupted"... so isn't the opening the time to earn the opportunity to continue with a strong positioning statement followed closely with a relevant unique value proposition?

Thoughts?

@Gasty has the best one I've heard. It's the only one I use now. "yes, this is a cold call. you can hang up now or roll the dice."

I'm cringing at the comma locations in the cc, but I didn't want to go searching for a gif that was grammatically perfect. Apologies to @Fenderbaum

These are definitely good general guidelines, which I think SalesGPT is pretty good at tackling.

Personally I found great success in asking them to do me a favor and then asking question about determining right person/org then moving to qualifying/disqualifying. People like to be helpful.

It really depends on what ICP and persona youโ€™re tackling and to which market youโ€™re selling. I was never a big fan of permission based openers but for some SDR it works really well. Find your sweet spot, keep evolving and develop a feeling for your market ๐Ÿคด

Also: Never pitch too early! Gain trust with a referral or reference customers youโ€™re working with early on: hey I also work with CUSTOMER X in your industry or close to your HQ. They found it appealing that we PROBLEM YOU SOLVE WITH YOUR SOLUTION / PRODUCT.

On the receiving end of too many cold calls, the ones that win the day offer value to me.

It could be work they did.
Piece of swag.
Something they created for me.

This takes time and is not scalable.

If itโ€™s not scalable, go shorter, and targeted towards a paint point they donโ€™t know. Google review you picked up. Rub the dogs nose in their shit. And, use phones, email, direct mail, fax, whatever. Going broad and persistent, walking the line between persistence and passionate is key.

I've had the most success with humor...especially post covid when many of my prospects work remotely and are able to screen calls placed to their mobile devices, which also serve as their office line.

Just proceed with the call. There's no point in asking to be part of a conversation you're already part of.
