For a BDR, Marketing is the best. They’ll take any meeting and pretend they like the solution, only to ghost at the end of the sales process. But hey got my opp qualified so don’t care! As an AE it’s the worst because they never have budget even though they say they do

Yep love me some CFOs. I find them more direct, logical and quick to actually get things done than other roles.

Sales - it’s a revenue driver not a cost center (everyone else). If you sell well and are polished, they’ll respond well. That’s also a double edged sword. If you are a green rep and fumble a lot, they won’t give you the time of day. These are all generalizations

Engineering, because they get right into it and are problem solvers by nature.

I've always had issues with engineering. They're the right persona for me to sell to, but a lot of them have the personality of a door knob so connecting can be difficult

Just make them feel like the experts they are, and it often works to get them to want to help.

I've noticed they want their ego stroked a bit.

Had to throw in the disclaimer of “and can buy stuff” because that one has bit me in the ass before with them agreeing to stuff and find out later on they don’t have the authority to purchase.

Yes - getting to the person who can sign the contract or approve the budget is key. :)

Selling to sales people is the best if you are good at what you do. If not, they will know and call you out. But generally they're decent to sell to because we all know what it's like to be on the other end

Marketing seem to buy the most in my precious role. Selling, it is all about allocating revenue and Marketing likes to swing their (useless) dick when it comes to buying things.

Sales and marketing are the easiest to deal with in the starting of the sales funnel. They are pretty much in touch with the market, not too rigid to talk to and definitely chill.

Towards the end of the sales funnel, these exact personas become pain in the arse . They know the exact tactics you would use to close them in, and they resist.

Finance and IT is extremely difficult in the beginning of the sales funnel, and easy to deal with while closing them.

Appreciate this take. Not so sure I’d throw sales and marketing in the same bucket when it comes to end of funnel though

Honestly, selling to sales because they usually will get to the point and if they have any weight to throw around and like your product the deal will get done.
