The best analogy I heard for a business leader likens it to being a 16th century Ship Captain.

As a leader, it’s your responsibility to ensure safe passage from point A to point B and navigate the elements so that your team can keep their head down and focus on their core duties because they have confidence that your hand is on the wheel.

I think a big part of that is being an effective communicator, knowing how to delegate properly and understanding the journey on both a micro and macro scale.

Communication, transparency, and action. All important for my leader to show so we can get deals done and make changes internally along the way.

Good listeners, approachable, follow through with their promises, give you honest feedback, take criticism well, care about their team.

Had a sales manager like that once, the guy made everyone's life so much better and always pushed us to be better.
