If you’re going to invest in education to further your career in TECHNOLOGY sales, then invest in knowing the technology. Go get industry recognized tech certs - Cisco, Microsoft, etc. ones people will recognize when they see your resume.

A tech SALES boot camp is fine to help you hone your selling skills, but if you REALLY want to relate to your buyer you need to put yourself in their shoes and be able to talk to them at their level.

this is completely true. the problem with alot of sales ppl is they are no where near as knowledgable about the problems and solutions their buy faces.

BUT

i have heard a few ppl say good things about Tech Sales U. as a way to familiarize your self with the basics.

There is nothing wrong with that, but it doesn’t teach them anything about technology. It just tells them that eventually they need to go grab a sales engineer and rely other people to move their sale forward.

I'm going to disagree. If you're starting out as a BDR fresh out of school, those certs won't matter. You're going to pick it up as you go and if you're paying attention, you'll figure out what you need when you get to a point you need it. Getting started in tech sales at the BDR level - you don't need certifications.

There should be some content already out there that can answer your question. I know a lot of people have asked about Tech Sales U in the past, could be worth checking the search bar.
