For those in a C-Level (minus 1 or 2) position, how prevalent is severance in recent contracts/offers you've negotiated?
2023 was a tough year for candidates, as the market shifted in favor of employers. Prior to that, certain comp components were more common such as signing bonus, first quarter commission guarantee, etc.
I'm wondering if you as either a hiring manager or candidate have seen in recent times severance clauses being either offered without negotiation, or being successfully negotiated in?
I've had a couple of colleagues (one VP and another C-Level) each offered 4-month and 6-month severance without having to ask for it.
What are you experiencing?
Thanks!
