Calling all introverts!

As an Introvert, I learned I was really really good at talking, but maybe to 1 or 2 people. Everyone else seemednplain and uninteresting...I realized this was a huge weakness and worked my ass off to make it a strength.

Any other introverts here?

Talking less helps in sales believe it or not. Let others blow their wad so you have as much info as possible before chiming in.

Agreed completely. People feel empowered and safe when you let them talk. If they are introverts then you have to take the helm but that shouldn’t be an issue- you have a purpose for the conversation after all.

Been an introvert in sales for six years and overall it’s been good. I spend a lot of time listening and just let prospects and clients talk.

Yup, i'm definitely consider myself an introvert. When I'm done with calls, I don't even want to speak to my colleagues much cuz having all those conversations takes a lot of energy from me.

Same here! 1-2 people at a time is my sweet spot. I started going to young sales professional meetups and networking events to force myself out of my comfort zone

Sometimes good sometimes bad! Especially when it comes to team meetings!! It’s important to be able to kind of sell yourself… any tips here on how do you create visibility within the organisation if you’re an introvert? That’s where I struggle the most

Being an introvert has made listening my superpower, so I try to capitalize on that as much as possible. My biggest weakness is still not being able to open up in social events, but it's far better than it was maybe 15 years ago.

The bad side of all this is that at the end of the day I feel drained out of my energy to be social because of all the interactions in which most where just trying to talk to someone.

That's true, have you tried shifting your energy to a + intake? Enjoy it, but have time limits.

I would consider myself an introvert also. I find that trying to get out of my comfort zone and telling myself that this is a good experience helps. I also like to give myself 10 minutes every hour to just have to myself.

I am a full-blown hide-in-the-basement introvert. The biggest thing to remember is that introverts can have social skills. We are not all Ally Sheedy from the Breakfast Club. Introverts can learn social skills the same way we can learn to play team sports. It may not be our favorite activity, but we can do it.

Next you have to understand how we re-charge. Introverts recharge in low-stimulus conversations such as being alone or having big idea conversations with one or two people. Extroverts recharge with high-stimulus conversations like bars, networking events, and large meetings. Now that you know that, you can organize your day to spend as much time as you can in a "recharging station".

Lastly, introverts can be better at sales than extroverts. Introverts tend to be more likely to have singular deep dive conversations while extroverts tend to like a lot of shallow small talk style chats. Knowing this can help you find a sales role that lends itself to your style. I personally believe extroverts are better SDRs and Introverts are better AEs.
